Mandy Dorman is serving as the inaugural David Schuman Legal Justice Fellow. In summer 2021, she worked at the Oregon Justice Resource Center's Civil Rights Project. An enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Mandy holds a BS in Mathematics from Linfield College and a MA in Crime and Intelligence Analysis from the University of Central Oklahoma. A published author who has worked professionally in direct service to justice-involved individuals pre-trial through reentry, Mandy is as passionate about research as she is about advocacy and social justice. She believes that society can only heal through compassion, and to develop compassion requires proximity. In applying for the Schuman Fellowship, Mandy said, "I aim to dedicate my professional career to underserved communities, particularly those that society conveniently casts behind walls, out of sight and out of mind."
