Daniel Tichenor, Philip H. Knight Chair of Social Science and Professor of Political Science, joined the Wayne Morse Center in 2008, and has served as Senior Faculty Fellow, a Program Director, and Faculty Director. He has published eight books and over 100 scholarly articles and chapters, including the award-winning Dividing Lines: The Politics of Immigration Control (Princeton University Press), Rivalry and Reform: Presidents, Social Movements, and the Transformation of American Politics (University of Chicago Press), and Democracy’s Child: Young People and the Politics of Control, Leverage, and Agency (Oxford University Press). He received the University of Oregon's A.J. Ersted Award for Distinguished Teaching and the Williams Fellowship for Innovative Teaching, and he has been a member of the Provost's Teaching Academy since its inception. He has testified and provided expert briefings to Congress on immigration and refugee policy, and provided commentary and essays for National Public Radio, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The Nation. He recently was elected to the Executive Council of the American Political Science Association and serves on the President's Council of Global Refuge. He was named as a Senior Scholar to the inaugural class of Andrew Carnegie Fellows in the Social Sciences and Humanities for "extraordinary scholarship addressing urgent challenges to democracy and international order."
