Kara Brown

Kara Brown is a second-year law student at the University of Oregon School of Law. As an Oregon native and double-duck, Kara graduated from the University of Oregon in 2025 with bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Spanish. Kara is pursuing a career in plaintiff-side impact litigation focused on expanding access to justice for incarcerated individuals.

Before law school, Kara participated in the Prison Education Program, through which she took a course inside Oregon State Penitentiary alongside thirteen incarcerated men. That experience reshaped Kara's understanding of the criminal justice system and continues to inform her dedication to prison reform and advocacy in Oregon.

In summer 2026, Kara served as the David and Sharon Schuman Legal Justice Fellow at the Oregon Justice Resource Center, working on cases against correctional institutions and law enforcement agencies. Kara also works as a Legal Research and Writing Tutor, competes on the UO Law Mock Trial Team, and serves as President of the Jewish Law Student Association. She is eager to continue gaining hands-on experience in civil rights litigation and to advance her commitment to plaintiff-side civil law.
