Rhacel Salazar Parreñas, professor of sociology and gender studies at the University of Southern California, delivered the 2018 Acker-Morgen Lecture.

Parreñas’ areas of research include labor, migration, transnational feminism, economic sociology, gender and the family.

The Acker-Morgen Memorial Lecture honors CSWS founding director Joan Acker and longtime center director Sandra Morgen, both of whom passed away in 2016.
