Join us to celebrate Michelle McKinley’s new book, Fractional Freedoms: Slavery, Intimacy, and Legal Mobilization in Colonial Lima, 1600–1700 (Cambridge University Press, 2016).
This event includes a panel discussion starting at 10 a.m., with a roundtable at 2 p.m., and lunch in between. The book explores domestic slavery and what McKinley terms “fractional freedoms” in the context of colonial Peru. McKinley is the director of the Center for Women in Society and the Bernard B. Kliks Associate Professor of Law at the University of Oregon School of Law.
